WILLIAMSBURG — Police release surveillance footage of a group of bike-riding thieves who broke open a lock to steal a deliveryman's $1,400 electric bicycle on Ainslie Street, police said.

One of the cyclists dismounted to break the lock on the bike attached to a post on Ainslie Street near Union Street while the other two acted as lookouts around 6:20 p.m. Sept. 6, police said.

The victim, a 34-year-old deliveryman, had locked his bike up to deliver food inside a building when the thieves struck, police said. It wasn't clear what restaurant he works for.

One of the suspects, a man in his 20s or 30s, was last seen wearing a long-sleeve jacket, shorts and dark sneakers, police said.

The second, in his late teens or early 20s, wore a black hoodie, a jacket, gray shorts and red socks, police said.

The third man, also in his late teens or early 20s, was wearing a blue and black long-sleeve jacket, shorts and dark sneakers, officials added.

Though restaurants rely heavily on the use of electric bikes to make deliveries, they're currently not allowed in New York City.

Anyone with information about this incident can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
