THE BRONX — Dramatic surveillance video caught muggers beating one man unconscious and chasing another down before whipping him with sticks in separate attacks that occurred just days apart, police said.

In the first attack, on Sept. 14, a suspect followed a 48-year-old man into a building near Walton Avenue and East 138th Street before suddenly punching him in the head about 2 a.m., NYPD officials said.

The attacker kept punching the man and knocked him unconscious before stealing his phone and wallet, police said.

The victim was seriously injured and treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for cuts to his face and head, police said.

Four days later, two men and two women chased down a 34-year-old man and beat him with sticks outside a home at Walton Avenue and East Fordham Road just after midnight on Sept. 18, police said.

The attackers stole his bag of food before fleeing, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear if the victim needed medical attention after the attack.

None of the suspects in the attacks had been arrested as of Monday morning, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
