MANHATTAN — Police released footage Thursday night of a man they said raped a woman and broke her teeth in a Central Park attack after offering to walk her home.
The suspect met the woman, 35, and a mutual friend at the top of the park at Lenox Avenue and West 110th Street about 9 p.m. Monday and offered to walk her home as the mutual friend departed, NYPD officials said.
Once in the park, the suspect raped her at knifepoint, beat her and stole her purse and phone, police said.
She was treated at an area hospital, police said. Police initially said the suspect broke her teeth in the attack.
The suspect hadn't been arrested as of Friday morning, police said.
He's about 30 years old, 190 pounds and was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, tan pants with brown shoes and carrying a backpack, police said.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
