Biker Killed in Crash That Injures 14-Year-Old Bystander, Police Say

By Aidan Gardiner | September 19, 2017 9:46am

QUEENS — A motorcyclist died when he lost control of his bike and hit a 14-year-old girl standing nearby and flung him into a concrete wall Monday night, police said.

Matthew Rosenzweig, 42, was riding west and trying to exit the Grand Central Parkway near the Whitestone Expressway about 5:20 p.m., but he couldn't handle the curve, riding straight through an exit ramp and onto a shoulder, NYPD officials said.

His bike slid across some grass and hit a 14-year-old girl standing nearby, injuring her left foot and back, police said.

Rosenzweig, of Mont Vernon, was flung into a concrete wall and before the bike somehow landed on top of him, police said.

Rosenzweig suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian/Queens, police said.

The girl was treated at Elmhurst Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, police said.
