BUSHWICK — A long-haired assailant dressed in black attacked a stranger, calling him a "moron" and a "Muslim" who should "go back to [his] country" after the victim refused to change a $20 bill, police said.

The attack unfurled on the corner of Wyckoff Avenue and Stockholm Street at 8:26 a.m. on Sept. 13, police said.

Wearing a black "True Religion" T-shirt, black pants and white socks on under white black sandals the suspect approached a 53-year-old man on the corner and asked him to break a 20-dollar bill, police said.

When the victim said no, the attacker shouted anti-Muslim statements at him, slapped his cellphone from his hand and punched the man on the left side of his neck, police said.

"You motherf--er. You moron. You Muslim," the attacker said. "Go back to your country."

Police wouldn't confirm if the victim of the attack was Muslim.

The suspect ran away on foot and the victim, who had pain and swelling on his neck and a shattered phone, declined medical attention at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Hate Crimes Task Force. No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
