BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A young man was wounded in a drive-by shooting outside the Louis Armstrong Houses in Bed-Stuy Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The victim, 20, was standing outside 296 Lexington Ave. between Marcy and Nostrand avenues at 12:22 p.m. when a white Chevrolet sedan pulled up and an assailant squeezed off numerous shots, hitting the man once in the back, according to a police spokeswoman.
The shooter zoomed off, and EMS transported the victim to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening, according to police and FDNY officials.
Police closed off Lexington Avenue between Marcy and Nostrand avenues for about an hour as investigators searched for evidence, and traffic resumed around 2 p.m.

Information about what sparked the shooting was not immediately available, and the investigation is ongoing, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.
The shooting was the second drive-by in Bed-Stuy in less than a week, coming days after three assailants in a silver Mercedes Benz shot a teen outside the Sumner Houses on Myrtle Avenue on Saturday.
