THE BRONX — A 60-year-old man was fatally struck by a box truck in Fordham on Tuesday morning, police said.

The man was crossing westward over Webster Avenue at East 193rd Street about 7:12 a.m. when the driver hit him, according to the NYPD. The driver had been stopped at the intersection and started to move after the light turned green before striking the man, a police spokesman said.

The 60-year-old, whose name wasn't immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 59-year-old driver, whose name also wasn't immediately released, stayed at the intersection and was not arrested or given a summons.

Police said they're still investigating.

Seven pedestrians have been injured at that intersection since 2009, according to the city's Vision Zero map.
