Gun-Wielding Thief Snatches $600 in Jewelry from 18-Year-Old, NYPD Says

LOWER EAST SIDE — A bicycle-riding, gun-toting thief stole two chains and a ring from an 18-year-old man on Ridge Street during the early morning hours of Sept. 1, according to authorities.

The victim told police he was walking near Broome Street with two of his friends at around 12:30 a.m. when two men on bikes approached them, one wielding a gun, and demanded they hand over their jewelry.

The victim handed over a yellow chain necklace with a cross medallion, valued at $250, a silver chain valued at $100 and a yellow ring inscribed with the word “Donovan,” valued at $250, according to a police report.

The suspects fled on their bikes towards Delancey Street, police said. 

Other recent crimes in the 7th Precinct include:

► A man punched a male victim in the face the night of Sept. 3 at the corner of Norfolk and Delancey streets, police said. A witness told police he saw the assailant and the victim get into a verbal dispute around 10:05 p.m. before the suspect then punched the victim in the face, causing the victim to fall and sustain a mouth injury. The suspect then fled in a black car. Police did not have additional information about the suspect or victim.

An assailant punched a man in the face at the corner of Rivington and Ludlow streets the night of Sept. 3. The suspect approached the 21-year-old victim around 7:10 p.m. and punched him, leaving him with a cut above his right eye, police said. The victim was taken to New York Downtown, according to police. The investigation remains ongoing. Police did not have additional information about the suspect.
