The first day of class is the perfect chance for city kids to kick off the school year in style — and Thursday was no exception as roughly 1.1 million students headed back to school.

Arianna Cruz, 6, was excited for her first day of kindergarten at P.S. 147 Isaac Remsen in East Williamsburg, the same school her mom attended. With her stuffed dog — named "dog" — in tow, she was decked out in a quilted pink jacket and bangs.

Twins Woeze and Lhaze, 6, showed up to their first day of first grade at P.S. 11 in Woodside showing off their matching outfits — including identical red cardigans, Tweety Bird pants and barrettes, while touting their individuality with different "Trolls" backpacks. Cool Shades, Lhaze. Their big sister Tenzin, 9, kept things blue, with some pieces of flare on her jeans.

Kymani, Rayhannah, and Kemari Smalls

Sister and brother Kymani and Kemari Smalls stayed warm, but still kept cool, in a puffy black jacket and a slick black bomber jacket, respectively, while mom Rayhannah Smalls set the stylish scene for her youngsters as they arrived at P.S. 51 in Hell's Kitchen. Kymani is headed to pre-K, while Kemari is just starting the third grade. “I’m excited but a little scared,” Kemari admitted.

Murshed Al-Muntaser, 6, cut a rakish figure, dressed in a blue gingham shirt and chambray tie with blue jeans — with some Air Jordans to boot. Thursday was his first day of kindergarten at P.S. 43 Jonas Bronck school in Mott Haven.

Tamera Covington, 9, could barely hide her excitement about her first day of kindergarten at P.S. 20 on the Lower East Side — or about her new fedora, stylishly cocked to the side, which she picked up at Burlington Coat Factory. Big brother Brandon, 10, was ready for fifth grade, rocking a blue button-down under a hoodie and some cool new black sneakers. Mom Ada Mato said it was "easy-peasy" to get her dapper ducks ready for school, noting Brandon was excited to see his pals and Tamera happy to start kindergarten.

These gals were all teeth as they mugged for the camera outside P.S. 51 Elias Howe in Hell's Kitchen, where they arrived for their first day of kindergarten in their retro finest — including a jean jacket with expertly cuffed sleeves, a light blue bomber jacket and a pale yellow cardigan.
