12 Affordable Apartments Up For Grabs at New Bed-Stuy Building

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Applications are open for a dozen below market-rate apartments in a new building in Bed-Stuy outfitted with amenities including a gym, a resident lounge, a landscaped terrace, and in-unit laundry, according to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development. 

Located at 27 Albany Ave. at Fulton Street, the 10-story, 47-unit building includes five one-bedroom and seven two-bedroom units available to applicants making 80 percent of the area median income, with lottery applications open through Sept. 30, according to the city’s Housing Connect website.

One bedrooms, priced at $1,230 are available for single tenants making between $44,126 and $53,440 or two people making between $44,126 and $61,120, according to HPD.

The two bedroom apartments, going for $1,480 per month, will be available for two tenants making between $52,938 and $61,120, three people making between $52,938 and $68,720, and four people making between $52,938 and $76,320, according to HPD.

A preference will be given to residents of Community Board 3 for 50 percent of the units, for people with hearing or movement disabilities and for city employees, HPD said.

The mixed-use building is a project of BRP Development, which specializes in mixed-income buildings, and will include 18,000 feet of commercial space on the ground floor, according to the firm’s website. It was developed with a exemption through the state's 421-a tax break program, according to HPD.
