THE BRONX — An 8-year-old boy who ran away from a Unionport supermarket while shopping with his mother Wednesday morning had been found by the afternoon, NYPD officials said.

Jake Sutherland, of Castle Hill, was with his mom in the shop at Story Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard about 8:50 a.m. when he ran off, said police, who asked the public for help finding the boy.

The boy was found, according to a tweet posted by the NYPD around 3 p.m. Additional information about where he was or how he was found was not immediately available.
