BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — An outreach worker with the Department of Social Services suffered a broken jaw after a man hurling anti-gay slurs attacked him in Bed-Stuy early Saturday morning, according to police reports and Mayor de Blasio

The 27-year-old victim was standing on the corner of Fulton and Franklin streets at about 4 a.m. Saturday morning when another man approached him, screamed “f----t” at him, and took a swing, clocking the victim in the face, police said.

The suspect, described by police as standing about 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds, fled the scene and first responders transported the victim to an area hospital with a broken jaw, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

At an unrelated press conference Monday, de Blasio told reporters he had spoken with the victim, who was awaiting surgery.

"Obviously [he is] very troubled by what he went through, but in good spirits," de Blasio said. "And I assured him we’re going to do everything we can to make sure he gets any help he needs. But that’s under investigation right now in terms of the details of the incident.”

The suspect was last seen wearing dark pants and a white tank top, according to surveillance photos released by police.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the website.
