By Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska | August 21, 2017 5:09pm

QUEENS — A 21–year-old man was critically injured in a drive-by shooting in Jamaica, police said.

The victim was in front of 104-46 164 St., between South Road and 107th Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. Friday when a gunman opened fire at him from a black sedan, hitting him in the thigh, officials said.

The car followed the man for a while as he tried to flee, before driving away in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital by private car and he was listed in critical condition, police said.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, officials said Monday, adding that the victim has 10 prior arrests, mostly for criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana possession.

There had been no arrests as of Monday, officials said.

The gunshot was recorded by ShotSpotter, a gunshot-detection technology installed in the neighborhood earlier this year, police said.
