MANHATTAN — An 88-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when a truck driver hit her as she was crossing the street in TriBeCa Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The woman, whose name wasn't immediately released, was hit as she crossed the street at Franklin and Church streets about 12:33 p.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

She suffered a severe leg injury and was listed in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital, police said.

The truck's driver, whose name and age weren't immediately released, stayed at the scene and wasn't immediately charged, police said.

Police said their information was preliminary and that their investigation continues.

One pedestrian was injured at that intersection on June 30, according to the city's Vision Zero map.
