Police Release Video of Man Wanted in Canal Street Slashing

MANHATTAN — Police released video Wednesday of a man wanted for slashing a 44-year-old man after the two bumped into each other at a Canal Street subway station, according to police.

The two men first got into a verbal argument after the bump at the A-C-E subway entrance at Thompson and Canal streets at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, an NYPD spokesman said. The suspect, who was wearing a dark trench coat, then slashed the 44-year-old on the left side of his face and his left wrist.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition and the attacker ran out of the station toward Sixth Avenue, police said.

The suspect was wearing the trench coat, is between 20 to 25 years old, about 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, according to the NYPD.
