By Nicholas Rizzi | August 15, 2017 12:07pm

ST. GEORGE — A man spit on officers and threatened to kill them after they caught him jumping a turnstile, prosecutors said.

Joseph Gambino, 45, jumped the turnstile to get onto the Staten Island Railway's St. George Ferry Terminal stop on Wednesday and was stopped by two officers at about 7:20 p.m., according to a criminal complaint.

When officers went to write him a summons, Gambino allegedly told them "I'm going to kill you guys, you don't know what I'm capable of," then spit in the face of one officer, prosecutors said.

Gambino threatened to spit in the other officer's face and told them "I know I jumped the turnstile, I didn't have time to pay for it," according to the complaint.

He was arrested and charged with theft of services, criminal trespass, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

Gambino pleaded guilty to the obstructing governmental administration charges and was ordered to pay a $200 fine, court records show.

He has received four other summonses this year for various charges including disorderly conduct.

Other notable incidents in Staten Island include:

► A man broke into a home under construction and tried to steal copper pipes, prosecutors said.

Jonathan Covington, 55, got into a fenced-off home at 125 Greenfield Ave. on Wednesday at about 11:30 p.m. and started to pull on copper pipes to remove them, according to his complaint.

Officers found him inside the home almost 20 minutes later and arrested him, police said.

Covington was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, possession of burglar's tools and attempted petit larceny at his Thursday arraignment, the DA said.

His bail was set at $15,000 bond, $10,000 cash, court records show.

Convington's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
