12-Year-Old Girl Sexually Abused at Gunpoint in Bronx Alley, NYPD Says

THE BRONX — A man covered a 12-year-old girl's mouth and dragged into an alley in broad daylight before sexually abusing her at gunpoint, police said.

The suspect, identified by police as 20-year-old Malcolm Lugo, followed the girl from a bodega and then attacked her near Weeks Avenue and East 173rd Street in Claremont about 10:50 a.m. on Aug. 13, police said.

He put a gun to her head and placed his hand over her mouth to muffle her screams, NYPD officials said.

"We do have some promising leads that we're following at the moment," NYPD Assistant Chief Patrick Conry said at an an unrelated event Monday. "We hope to have some progress."

Police said Lugo has a "distinctive" tribal tattoo on his right arm, as well as brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a red-and-black shirt, red shorts and black sneakers, police said.
