LONG ISLAND CITY — A 24-hour organic market has joined the ranks of new retail options near Queensboro Plaza.

Olives Organic Market opened Wednesday at 4237 27th St. off of 42nd Road, offering grocery item staples like cheese and fresh produce alongside prepared hot foods and a salad bar.

The space also includes a juice bar, frozen-food area and a deli counter that serves up sandwiches, as well as pastries and baked goods.

"From little things to everything," said owner Rafik Almamlouh, who said he owns three similar stores in Downtown Brooklyn, including Gold Street Market and Johnson Gourmet Deli.

While the shop will be open during limited hours over the next few days, it will begin operating 24 hours a day starting Monday, he explained.

Almamlouh added that he hopes to be a convenient addition for residents in the immediate area, where retail options have been slow to arrive despite a residential construction boom in Queens Plaza and Court Square.

The next closest food market is the Food Cellar on Crescent Street and 44th Road, and locals are still clamoring for more, according to survey by the Long Island City Partnership released at the end of July.

The group asked more than 1,300 people in the neighborhood what retail shops they'd like to see open nearby, and a grocery store was the third most popular answer, following requests for more pharmacies and restaurants, the survey found.
