Robbers Pistol-Whip 2 People During Staten Island Home Break-In, Police Say

By Nicholas Rizzi | August 9, 2017 2:26pm

STATEN ISLAND — A trio of robbers with guns broke into a Rosebank home and pistol-whipped two men in the head before stealing cash, police said.

A 32-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were sitting outside the home on St. Johns Avenue Saturday at about 3:22 a.m. when the three suspects — two wearing masks, dark-colored clothing and gloves — approached them, the NYPD said.

The suspects took out guns, forced the victims in the home, and demanded they lay on the floor and give them cash, police said. One suspect then pistol-whipped the 32-year-old in the head.

The robbers went into a bedroom where the homeowner — another 32-year-old man — was inside sleeping and also pistol-whipped him in the head, the NYPD said.

They ransacked the home and stole more than $1,000 cash, a wallet containing four debit and credit cards, and a iPhone, which was later recovered.

The two victims suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect without a mask was caught on surveillance camera leaving the home and is described by police as having a slim build with a beard and tattoo on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing a baseball hat, T-shirt, sweat pants and sneakers.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
