THE BRONX — A woman fought off a man who beat her and tried to shove her into her car to rape her Sunday morning, police said.

The 36-year-old woman was getting into her car near Bathgate Avenue and East 173rd Street about 8 a.m. when the man came up behind and tried to shove her inside and sexually assault her, NYPD officials said.

The suspect, who's about 25, punched her in the face, but she fought back, sending him running away, police said.

Her face was bruised after the attack, police said.

The suspect can be seen running in police footage released Monday. He's wearing a gray and white T-shirt with dark pants and shoes, police said.
