YORKVILLE — Notorious York Avenue nightclub Saloon, known for rowdy patrons that for years drew the ire of neighbors, has closed.

The nightclub and its adjacent restaurant The Louise at 1584-86 York Ave. closed in July, with the 4,500-square-foot space now up for rent, according to locals and representatives for TZM Realty.

The space became available on July 1, but it was unclear exactly when or why the establishments officially closed.

Representatives for Saloon and The Louise did not return requests for comment, while building owner Calyphil Realty declined to comment.

TZM Realty did not respond to additional inquiries about the space.

For years, Saloon was known for rambunctious party-goers loudly staggering out of the club, as well as a fight on the street near the bar.

The venue prided itself on being the "best party spot" with the biggest dance floor on the Upper East Side that hosted private parties for over 400 people, according to its website.

Locals and members of Community Board 8 had tried for years to get the club to close up for good, according to a 2009 New York Observer article called "Nightlife Nightmare."

The Louise, opened by the owners of Saloon in 2014, served American comfort food like French toast, burgers and avocado toast, as well as craft beer and cocktails, its website says.

Both spots received an "A" grade on their last health department inspections in 2016.
