VIDEO: Robber Hops Bronx Restaurant Counter to Steal Chicken and Biscuits

MOTT HAVEN — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a thief who hopped the counter at a Bronx fast-food restaurant to steal chicken and a tray full of biscuits.

Video released by the NYPD shows the thief nonchalantly putting the food in a bag inside a Texas Chicken and Burgers on Brook Avenue near East 138th Street on July 27 around 10:10 p.m.

He then shoved an employee who tried to stop him from leaving, police said.

Restaurant manager Haseeb Ishfaq, 22, said he was told by investigators that the robbery may have been a social media stunt.

"There were two guys making a video on YouTube," Ishfaq told DNAinfo. "I don't know if he was trying to get famous or on the news."

He added that while it's amusing, he hopes the thief is caught.

"It's just chicken, but it's not good," he said. "He deserves some punishment, but not too much."

The robber has long braids and was last seen wearing a black and pink shirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers. He had a white towel or shirt on his head during the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
