ROOSEVELT ISLAND — The developer of Cornell Tech's new dorm building filed plans last week for a new 341-unit apartment tower on Main Street, city records show.

Related Companies and Hudson Companies want to build the 21-story tower at 460 Main St. that will rise 215 feet and take up 240,000 square feet once it's built, according to plans it filed with the city's Department of Buildings last week.

Handel Architects will design the new tower, records show.

The project marks the eighth of nine apartment buildings developed by Related on Roosevelt Island, which plans to add roughly 2,000 residential units.

Related and Hudson Companies also developed Cornell Tech's 352-unit dormitory The House, which will open in September with the rest of the campus.

Related declined to answer additional questions about the new project, including how many market-rate and affordable apartments the development will have.
