MANHATTAN — A man suffered life-threatening injuries when a driver hit him as he crossed the street near Chelsea Piers on Monday night, police said.

The 21-year-old, whose name wasn't immediately released, was crossing 12th Avenue at West 22nd Street about 10:20 p.m. when the 24-year-old driver of a Honda Accord heading south on the avenue struck him, an NYPD spokesman said.

The man was treated at Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and wasn't immediately charged, police said.
