
QUEENS — A mugger shoved a 72-year-old man to the ground outside an Astoria bank before stealing his wallet, the NYPD said.
The victim was outside the Santander Bank on Broadway between 37th and 38th streets shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday when the suspect came up to him from behind, pushed him to the ground and swiped his wallet, police said.
The thief — a man believed to be between 25 and 30 years old — then fled in an unknown direction, according to police.
The victim was brought to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital with injuries to his face and knees, police said.
The suspect was described as standing around 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue sleeves, tan pants, and blue-and-white sneakers.
