Man Randomly Punches Elderly Couple on East Harlem Street, Police Say

EAST HARLEM — A man randomly attacked an elderly couple walking along the street, punching both before fleeing, police said.

The victims, a 70-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife, were at the corner of East 112th Street and Park Avenue Saturday night at 9:05 p.m. when a man wearing a bright orange T-shirt came up to the pair and started swinging, the NYPD said.

He socked the man in his mouth and stomach and punched the woman in her face and head, police said. 

Emergency workers rushed the scene and took the victims to a nearby hospital, police said. 

Police are now looking for the suspect, who was captured on security cameras inside a Fine Fare Supermarket two blocks away from where the attack occurred. 

He was described as being in this 30, standing more than 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing an bright orange T-shirt, jeans and black shoes.
