Jogger Tears Shirt Off Man Who Stole Her iPhone in Central Park, NYPD Says

MANHATTAN — A jogger managed to tear the shirt off a robber who came up behind her in Central Park and stole her iPhone on Monday morning, police said.

The 45-year-old woman was running along Center Drive about 5 a.m. and reached 66th Street when a man came up behind her and tried to snatch her phone, an NYPD spokesman said.

She fought back, managing to strip him, before he swiped her phone and fled, police said.

He was last seen shirtless and wearing white shorts, police said.

The woman suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
