THE BRONX — Three people were hurt, one of them seriously, in a pair of large fires that tore through homes in Mount Hope and Bedford-Stuyvesant overnight, including one that was sparked by illegal fireworks, FDNY officials said.
The illicit explosives ignited 24 Kane Place, near Atlantic Avenue, about 11:27 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
About 106 firefighters brought that blaze under control by 12:30 a.m. without any injuries being reported, officials said.
Three people were hurt in another massive fire that tore through 117 E. 179th St., near Creston Avenue, about 5 a.m., officials said.
One person suffered serious injuries and was treated at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, officials said.
Another person was treated there for minor injuries, FDNY officials said.
A firefighter was treated for minor injuries at New York Hospital, officials said.
More than 100 firefighters brought the blaze under control by 7:20 a.m., officials said. Fire marshals will determine the cause.
