THE BRONX — A protective elderly mom trying to break up a fistfight involving her son broke her leg in Fordham when she was hurled to the ground during the fracas, police said.

The 73-year-old mother was trying to intervene in the fisticuffs between her 36-year-old son and a heavy-set man wearing a fedora at 8 p.m. near East 194th Street and Marion Avenue, authorities said.

She broke her leg when she fell to the ground and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark sneakers and what appeared to be red cargo shorts, according to video released by police.
