CHELSEA — A disabled man with a pro-LGBT sticker on his walker was punched by a bike-riding attacker hurling anti-gay remarks in an incident that is being investigated as a hate crime, the NYPD said.
The 44-year-old victim was waiting for a bus near West 27th Street and Sixth Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday when the suspect rode up on a bike and shouted the homophobic slur, police said.
The man then punched the victim, who had a sticker expressing support for the LGBT community on his walker, several times before fleeing the scene on his bike, the NYPD said.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was expected to recover, according to police and a CBS New York report.
The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.
