Thief Swipes $755 Worth Of Eyedrops From TriBeCa Duane Reade, NYPD Says

TRIBECA - A dry-eyed thief managed to loot hundreds of dollars worth of over-the-counter meds, including $755 in Visine, from a  downtown Duane Reade, police said.

The incident occurred at the Duane Reade at 250 Broadway on June 14, according to police. A store employee told police that at around 7:30 a.m., a suspect with a history of shoplifting arrests at the store made off with $1,345 worth of drugs, including containers for Mucinex DM, Mucinex Cold & Cough, and Mucinex Severe Cold.

Staff told police the haul included the Visine bottles.

The suspect is described as a man in loafers, wearing a blue vest. Police said there were no arrests as of Tuesday, and a store manager offered no comment when contacted.

Other recent incidents in the 1st Precinct, according to police, include:

► A trio of haute-couture thieves stole $25,000 worth of property from an upscale SoHo Boutique, police said. The incident occurred at 4:19 a.m. on June 16, at the Chloe boutique at 93 Greene St., according to police. A witness told police he saw three men in hooded sweatshirts and gloves break the front door’s window, then loot property into plastic garbage bags before fleeing the store. Police had no information on the exact contents of the loot, and said there were no arrests as of Tuesday. When contacted, the store manager declined to comment.

► A TOWN Real Estate management office at 337 West Broadway was burgled on June 8, police said, with looted items including Oliver People sunglasses, a number of routers and computer servers, and a Mike Tyson painting worth $500. The suspect entered through an office window on the second floor at around 11:30 p.m., removed the items, and fled through the same window, police said. There were no arrests as of Tuesday, and the office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

► An unknown perpetrator broke through the wall of a vacant building to access the West Broadway Glass Company outpost at 341 Broadway on the night of June 5, according to police. The building’s superintendent told cops he discovered a hole through a brick wall connecting the two buildings, and noted he found a hammer next to the hole. There were no arrests as of Tuesday. A company manager confirmed the incident to DNAinfo New York and noted no property was taken.

► A 27-year-old Manhattanite said her wallet was stolen inside the dressing room of a Zara location at 503 Broadway on June 9. She told police she put her wallet on the floor of the dressing room while changing, but forgot it when she left the fitting room. When she returned five minutes later, the wallet wasn’t there, according to police. There was no activity on her cards, and there were no arrests as of Tuesday. Zara staffers were unable to be reached for comment.

► A 19-year-old man who fell asleep on a southbound 1 train early in the morning on June 12 said when he awoke at the Chambers Street station, three men ran off with his bag, according to police. The victim said he chased after the perpetrators, who ran off the train, but got into a physical altercation with them, and one suspect pulled his iPhone 7, weekly MetroCard, and $20 in cash out of his pants pocket. The victim refused medical attention and there were no arrests as of Tuesday. Police said the suspects are Spanish-speaking males in their teens or early 20s, one of whom is 5-foot-10, while another is 5-foot-5.

► A 35-year-old SoHo resident said his wallet disappeared from a McDonald's on June 12. The victim told police he left his wallet on a table at around 12:30 a.m., and when he went back to retrieve it, it wasn’t there. Police said the floor manager eventually told the victim that another man sitting at the table told an employee the wallet was his, and left with it. There were no charges on the victim’s credit cards, and police said there were no arrests as of Tuesday. The suspect is described as a 40-year-old man, 6-foot-3, approximately 200 pounds and wearing a black jacket. Store employees were unable to be reached for comment.

► Two tech-savvy teens swiped a couple of display iPhones from an AT&T store at 33 Park Place on June 12, police said. A store employee told police the teens went into the store at around 2:20 a.m., ripped two iPhone 7s from a display case and left the store, fleeing eastbound on Park Place. There were no arrests as of Tuesday and the store manager was not available for comment.

► A woman who resides in Manhattan told police an unknown woman swiped her cellphone on the northwest corner of Broadway and Leonard Street on June 14. The victim was walking home when the perpetrator asked if she could use her phone to make a call, police said. The victim refused, telling her, “I don’t know you,” whereupon the woman snatched the phone out of her hand and fled northbound on Broadway toward Canal Street, according to police. There were no arrests as of Tuesday.

► A 27-year-old Queens woman said another woman assaulted her with an umbrella inside the Fulton Street station on June 16. The victim told police she was walking along the A train mezzanine when she got into an argument with the suspect. The suspect then struck her in the face with an umbrella, with her hands, and with an unknown object, police said. The suspect fled the station on a northbound A or C train, while the victim was treated for a laceration at NY Downtown Hospital. The victim described the suspect as a woman, 5-foot-3 with short hair, wearing jeans and a black shirt, but police said there were no arrests as of Tuesday.
