QUEENS — A new gastropub serving comfort and barbecue food will open in July on Queens Boulevard, with plans to open a rooftop garden in the future, reps for the eatery said.

Queens Bully, which earlier this year was listed by Zagat among the 47 most anticipated spring restaurant openings of 2017, will open at 113-30 Queens Blvd., near 76th Road, with a soft opening scheduled for July 6, according to its representatives.

“Queens Bully will serve a menu of comfort food and barbecue inspired by the many cultures that exist throughout New York City’s most diverse borough,” the restaurateurs said in a statement.

The 100-seat eatery, named after Queens Boulevard, will replace Baluchi’s which was closed by the Health Department in 2015.

Arim Isabel, who used to work at Branded Restaurants USA and Southern Hospitality, will be the executive chef at Queens Bully, a partnership between Rohan Aggarwal, who helped run the now-closed Baluchi's, and Suraj Patel.

The 2,000-square-foot space, which over the past couple of months has undergone a complete makeover, will feature "rustic-industrial design elements" like brick walls, exposed wooden beam ceilings and aged mirrors. It will also boast picnic-style wood tables and benches and a 30-foot Calcutta stone-topped bar, the restaurant said.

The rooftop garden is expected to open in the spring of 2018, according to its representatives.

The menu will include dishes like Corona Corn Elote, Astoria Lamb Burger, Korean Fried Sticky Wings and Shrimp Ceviche Stuffed Avocados as well as a selection of artisanal naan pizzas and barbecue dishes such as Bayside Brisket and Off The Bully Baby Back Ribs.

The restaurant will also offer local craft beers and wines as well as bourbon-centric cocktails, its representatives said.

Many ingredients will come from local purveyors, including the Forest Hills Greenmarket, while herbs will be grown on the premises in a hydroponic garden, according to the restaurant.

Queens Bully will be the latest addition to the growing number of gastropub-style eateries in the neighborhood, which already include Austin Public, Banter Irish Bar and Kitchen, Rove and Forest Hills Station House, among others.
