Shoplifter Punches Duane Reade Worker After Stealing $640 Worth of Makeup

ASTORIA — Police are looking for a shoplifter who stole hundreds of dollars worth of cosmetics from a pharmacy in Queens last month, then punched a worker in the face who tried to stop him, according to the NYPD.

The man, who wore a green jumpsuit, walked into the Duane Reade on Broadway and 35th Street in Astoria shortly after 4 p.m. on May 17, where he swiped makeup products worth $640, police said.

The thief tried to run, punching a 45-year-old store manager who tried to stop him, according to police.

The employee was not seriously injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as between 30 and 40 years old, 140 pounds and 5-foot-5 with short brown hair, police said.
