RICHMOND HILL — The death of a 3-year-old boy who suffered blunt force trauma and bruising all over his body has been ruled a homicide nearly a year after his death, officials said.

Romeo Lewis died Aug. 2, 2016 at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, police said.

The boy was transported there on July 28, 2016 after family members originally brought him to Jamaica Hospital, near his home in Richmond HIll.

On Thursday, the Medical Examiner's Officer ruled Romeo's death a homicide, saying he died of complications from blunt force head trauma, a spokeswoman said.

The Administration for Children's Services couldn't comment on whether it had been investigating any previous instances of child abuse, citing privacy issues.

The department and the NYPD are investigating the homicide, a spokesman said.
