FORT GREENE — A popular German restaurant catering to patrons of Brooklyn’s performing arts center will close its doors after a six-year run, staff said.

Berlyn, a restaurant serving German-inspired food and drink on Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, will close Saturday, the eatery announced on its website this week.

“Berlyn will be serving its last schnitzel Saturday, June 17,” the message read. “It has been a true pleasure serving you and hope that you’ve been left with as many fond memories as we have these last six years.”

Two former Berliners — one American and one German — opened the restaurant in late 2010 in its prime location directly across from the main entrance of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, according to a New York Times report at the time.

It has been popular with concert and theater-goers ever since, routinely popping up on recommendation lists for pre-performance dining.

It’s unclear why the restaurant is closing. An inquiry to the staff was not immediately returned Thursday.
