NEW DORP — An elderly man was struck and killed by a car while crossing a dangerous Staten Island street over the weekend, police said.

Jason Tseng, 80, died Sunday inside Staten Island University Hospital North a day after he was hit by a car on Hylan Boulevard, dubbed the "Boulevard of Death" by some activists, the NYPD announced Wednesday.

Tseng tried to cross the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Jacques Avenue on Saturday from the center medium when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Sentra driving southbound in the right lane at about 1:45 p.m., police said.

The front driver's side fender of the car hit Tseng and threw him to the pavement, officials said.

Tseng had severe head trauma and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday.

The 27-year-old male driver remained on scene and no arrests have been made, police said.
