MANHATTAN — The unlicensed driver who left a Columbia student clinging to life after a hit-and-run early Monday morning turned himself in a day later, NYPD officials said.

Brayard Arno, 28, turned himself in to the 26th Precinct stationhouse about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, an NYPD spokesman said.

Arno was charged with leaving the scene after striking the 19-year-old man at the intersection of Riverside Drive and West 115th Street just after midnight Monday, police said.

He, who's from New Jersey, was also charged with driving without a license, police said.

Surveillance video released by police shows the victim enter the crosswalk looking the other way before suddenly turning to see the oncoming car.

The victim was treated for severe head and leg injuries at Mount Sinai St. Luke's, where he was listed in critical condition on Monday, police said.
