CHELSEA — A 21,000-square-foot food hall with a bakery, four restaurants and gallery space is opening at the base of a West Chelsea luxury building.

The owners of Union Fare, a “modern gastrohall” on East 18th Street, plan to open a second outpost at the base of the Avalon West Chelsea at 282 11th Ave., between West 28th and 29th streets, according to real estate firm Newmark Knight Frank.

“In the last four years, 27 residential projects have come to the market in West Chelsea, while the amenities haven’t fully arrived yet,” the firm’s executive managing director of retail Ross Kaplan said in a statement.

“Not only will Union Fare be great for the residence of the fully occupied, 710-unit Avalon West Chelsea apartment building, but it will add to the neighborhood’s new vibrancy,” he added.

The food hall known as Union Fare 28 will house four different eateries: French Dnr, which will serve up Mediterranean-influenced fare; Fog Cutter, which will offer small plates like oysters; the French cocktail-focused Bar Coquette; and Union Fare Grill, a new American restaurant, according to Metro New York, which first reported on the new outpost.

Food and beverage vendors, a bakery, a lounge and a gallery will also occupy the space, which is slated to open by the end of the year, Newmark Knight Frank said.

Union Fare did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
