Homeless Man Arrested for Fatal Bronx Shooting, NYPD Says

By Katie Honan | May 26, 2017 10:54am

THE BRONX — A homeless man was arrested for fatally shooting a man in the buttocks in April, police said.

Police say Dunnell Platto, 26, shot Quaysean Haywood once in the right buttock on Hawkstone Street and Walton Avenue in Mount Eden on April 16.

Although Haywood was initially listed in stable condition, the bullet traveled up to his abdominal cavity, police sources said.

He started to bleed internally while recovering at St. Barnabas Hospital, and died days after the shooting, police said.

Platto, who has at least eight prior unsealed arrests that include theft of service and weapons possession, was charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arrested at an unrelated court appearance at the Yonkers Court House on Thursday, according to the NYPD.
