LOWER EAST SIDE — A woman returning to her car early Saturday morning found a man sleeping in the vehicle, who then snatched her backpack before fleeing, according to authorities.
The 34-year-old victim discovered the suspect sleeping in her car that was parked at the corner of East Houston and Norfolk streets around 3 a.m., police said.
When she nudged him awake, the suspect grabbed her red backpack, valued at around $80, that held a $1,600 MacBook Pro, according to a police report. He then fled on foot down Norfolk Street, police said.
The suspect is described as a man standing around 6 feet tall, weighing 220 pounds, with long brown hair pulled into a ponytail, according to a police report.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
