Homeless Man Beaten for Catcalling Woman on Inwood Street Is Dead: NYPD

By Carolina Pichardo | May 24, 2017 9:57am | Updated on May 24, 2017 1:06pm

INWOOD – One of the men beaten for catcalling a Bronx teen's female cousin has died, police said.

Lucio Bravo, 69, was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical condition on May 18 after Branlee Gonzalez, 18, flew into a rage and punched him — an another 39-year-old man — in the head for making a comment about the woman he was walking with along Sherman Avenue near Dyckman Street, according to police.

Police initially described the woman as the teen's girlfriend, but sources later said she is not his girlfriend, and is believed to be his cousin.

Bravo suffered massive head trauma and was on life support until Monday night, when he was pronounced dead at midnight, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office. The DA said additional charges against Gonzalez are expected to be filed.

Police said Gonzalez, who has no prior arrests, turned himself in to the 34th Precinct stationhouse Monday morning and was charged with first- and second-degree assault.

Gonzalez's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
