BROOKLYN — A toddler who'd wandered away from her parents and walked into the street was seriously injured when an SUV driving by hit her Tuesday evening, officials said.

The girl, who was just shy of two years old, was hit in front of 91 Newell St. between Nassau and Norman avenues at about 6:08 p.m., according to police and fire officials.

She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in serious but stable, police said.

The driver of a black SUV remained at the scene and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday, police confirmed.
