UPPER EAST SIDE — A bank robber is wanted for hitting the same East 86th Street bank twice in the past six weeks, marking the latest in a rash of bank robberies over the past few months, police said.

The male suspect first entered the Chase Bank at 126 E. 86th St. at Lexington Avenue on April 10 at 3:45 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money before fleeing with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Then on Friday, May 19, the suspect returned to the same branch at 11:21 a.m. and passed another note demanding money before again fleeing with cash, the NYPD said.

Police described the suspect as a bald 45- to 50-year-old man, standing 6 feet tall, and last seen wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a black book bag.

On March 9, a man in a New York Yankees cap robbed two Third Avenue banks, and on March 21 another man was nabbed for robbing a Chase bank on East 90th Street twice, police said.

On May 17, a convicted robber was caught after knocking off two nearby banks on the Upper East Side in less than 20 minutes, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to the most recent incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
