YORKVILLE — A neighborhood espresso shop known for its breakfast was shut down by Health Department inspectors this week for having mice and not cleaning its food-prep areas, records show.
Café Noi Espresso Bar at 1465 Second Ave., at East 76th Street, was slapped with 50 health violation points during a Monday health inspection for having evidence of mice and not protecting or washing food-prep areas from contamination, records show.
Employees also haven't protected the establishment from vermin and haven't properly maintained a food-prep surface, among other violations.
However, the shop was back open on Thursday afternoon, according to an employee answering the phone there who declined to put the manager on.
The Department of Health reinspected the eatery on Thursday morning and gave it the greenlight to reopen, an agency spokesperson said.
Thrillist just named Café Noi as the best place to grab breakfast on the Upper East Side.
