BROOKLYN — A 78-year-old man was thrown against a wall and punched repeatedly in the face in the hallway of a Sunset Park building, NYPD officials said.

The man, who'd previously arguing with the suspect, was attacked in the building near 50th Street and Eighth Avenue about 5 a.m. on April 30, police said.

The suspect can be seen in video released by police punching the victim before grabbing him and throwing him against a nearby wall  — then fleeing the scene.

The victim, whose face and head were cut in the attack, was treated at Maimonides Medical Center, police said.

The suspect, who was last seen in a striped T-shirt and black pants, is believed to be in his early 20s, about 175 pounds and 5 feet 7 inches, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the attack.

"We're trying to find out exactly what happened," said the NYPD's Chief of Detectives, Robert Boyce.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
