WILLIAMSBURG — A cyclist was injured after heading the wrong direction on a street and hitting an NYPD SUV as it responded to a call of an assault Monday morning, police said.

The cyclist, whose identity wasn't immediately released, was riding along Morgan Avenue and crashed into the police vehicle just past Stagg Street about 2 a.m., an NYPD spokesman said.

The cyclist was in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital, police said.

The officers in the SUV were not hurt, police said.

Police also responded to the assault call, but found only a fight that didn't warrant any arrests, the spokesman said.
