MANHATTAN — The body of a man who hanged himself was discovered Thursday morning in a section of Riverside Park popular with joggers and walkers, police said.

The man, whose name and age weren't immediately released, was hanging from a tree near West 91st Street about 6:38 a.m., NYPD and FDNY officials said. His feet were touching the ground.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the man committed suicide, an NYPD spokesman said.

The Thursday suicide is the third person to be found dead in a city park in as many days.

"I saw the Central Park ones on the news. It's unbelievable what's going on. I don't think they're connected, but it is weird," said David Carrero, 57, a doorman for a nearby building.

Others agreed.

"It's scary. Anything like this is scary. Three bodies in parks in three days," said Janet John, who was walking her poodle in the park.
