LINCOLN SQUARE — Time to polish your dancing shoes.
Tickets for this year's Midsummer Night Swing — a series of 15 evenings of outdoor social dances hosted by Lincoln Center in Damrosch Park — are now on sale.
Now in its 29th year, the three-week dance party will open with a big band swing performance by the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra on June 27 and close with a lindy hop dance contest on July 15.
Other highlights of the 2017 season include an evening of blues with the former bandleader for the late Sharon Jones, a night of big band salsa with Don Perignon y La Puertorriqueña, and a celebration of cabaret singer and saxophonist Dawn Hampton, a leader of the New York City swing scene who died last year.
The full range of musical styles at Lincoln Center's festival include disco, ballroom, boogaloo, nu disco, tango, Texas two-step and Western swing — the last two being presented at Midsummer Night Swing for the first time since 2010.
Individual evening events cost $17 in advance and $20 the day of, and the price of a ticket covers a 6:30 p.m. lesson for dancers of all skill levels. Live music on most nights will begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. A season pass is $170.
