CENTRAL PARK — A "badly decomposed" man was pulled from the Central Park reservoir after being seen floating in the water Tuesday afternoon, NYPD officials said.

The body, which was so decomposed that investigators at first couldn't determine its age or gender, was found in the water near East 87th Street and East Drive about 12:40 p.m., police said.

It wasn't immediately clear how the body got there or the cause of death.

Police said their investigation is ongoing and that the medical examiner would determine the cause of death.
