Transgender Woman Dies After Being Found With Head Injuries in Chelsea

MANHATTAN — A transgender woman who was found unconscious with head injuries last week died on Thursday, sources said.

The woman, whose name and age weren't immediately released, was found unconscious with head injuries outside 343 Seventh Ave., near West 29th Street, about 10:30 p.m. on April 25, NYPD officials said.

Investigators are trying to determine how she died and if any criminality was involved, officials said.

She was being treated at Bellevue Hospital until she died on Thursday about 4:10 p.m., police said.

The Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death, police said.
